I work as a buying agent for of Guatemalan handicrafts.
I am responsible for the following:
- Buying the product
- Quality control
- Labeling (Does not include labels)
- Packing (Does nod include packing materials)
- Delivery to a freight forwarder
My name is Carlos Fco. Rochac. Originally from El Salvador, I have been living in Guatemala for the last twenty five years.
I started working in handicrafts in 1985 as the manager of a business called Uccelli, owned by a good friend; Duncan Aitken, from whom I learned much of what I know about Mayan handicrafts.
Many foreign travelers came to Guatemala and recognized the opportunity to sell Mayan handicrafts. However they needed to be able to obtain product without having to come to Guatemala repeatedly. Fourteen years ago I started Ixcaco to work as a buying agent. I am pleased to say that a number of the clients I worked with then, are with me still.
